FREE dbPowerAmp
The FREE dbPowerAmp tool can be used to convert the WAV files to MP3 files.

Choice 1: Portable Digital Voice Recorder

A quick-and-easy way to get your church's sermons online is to employ the use of a digital voice recorder.

Today's digital voice recorders are relatively inexpensive and because they are portable, they can record conveniently in any setting (church, special meetings, open-air, etc). You can then transfer the recorded audio quickly to a computer and then convert it to the MP3 format and upload it to your website. Click here for good links to computer audio tools.

Steps:

  • Use a digital voice recorder with a line-in from your existing sound system to record.
  • Transfer the audio as a WAV file to your computer.
  • Use any tool to convert the WAV files to MP3 files.
  • Upload your MP3 sermon to your website.

Choice 2: Convert Existing Audio CDs to MP3s

If you are already have your sermons on Audio CDs, then all you need is a program to "rip" the audio off of the CD and convert it to a properly-encoded MP3 file.

Click here for links to some tools that will help you (for this type of encoding work, the FREE dbPowerAmp tool works quite well).

Steps:

  • Your sermons must already be on Audio CDs.
  • Use the FREE dbPowerAmp to "rip" the CD and create the MP3.
  • Upload your MP3 sermon to your website.

hoice 3: Record from Tape or Mic Directly to PC

To transfer your sermons from cassette tape or if you wish to record your church services from a MIC directly into the computer the do the below.

Recording directly into the computer requires the most effort and a computer must be available at the recording location. This however  provides the fastest way to create the MP3 files.

You will need to connect your audio source to either the computer's LINE-IN or MIC port with the proper cables. You will need a program to capture the audio and save it to properly-encoded MP3 files suitable for streaming online. We use
Adobe Audition Professional Audio Editor (Formerly CoolEdit 2000)

Go to The PolderbitS website for an excellent step-by-step tutorial on how to connect your audio source to your PC.

Click here for links to tools that will help you with this type of recording and encoding work, we recommend: the professional-grade Adobe Audition tool.

    Steps:

  • Connect your audio source to your computer.
  • Use Audition, or other software, ... to record the audio.
  • Directly save the recorded audio as an MP3 file.
  • Upload your MP3 sermon to your website.

hoice 5:
Use Audio Sermon Host to encode them for you.

You can have a third-party company to do the encoding and uploading for you.

Church Webs encourages broadcasters to learn how to encode and upload their own audio sermons to the site. This will give you maximum control and sermons can be uploaded to the site at a moment's notice.

We realize that this is not always possible. If you prefer, you can employ the services of a dependable company like Audio Sermon Host  to encode and upload your sermons for you at very reasonable rates.

    Steps:

  • Sign up with Audio Sermon Host  for our audio services.
  • Mail your cassettes or CDs to the mailing address.
  • We will take care of the rest.

NOTE: For an example of a a good encoded MP3 sermon, please listen to this sermon. Note the volume level and the audio quality. Try to get your encoded audio to sound like this when you're done.
